Terms and Conditions

The following terms and conditions are an agreement between you and iGoToChina. Please read the iGoToChina Terms and Conditions of Service carefully. By ticking the box on your online application form, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

Service Fees

There is no service fees for you, but we do require a deposit to confirm your participation of the programs (2000DKK, 290 EUR or 2100 CNY). Deposit is 6 weeks due prior to the start of your program. Failure to make payment by this time may result in loss of your placement. The deposit will be refunded to you when you come back to your country of residence. The deposit is non-refundable if (1) you decide not to be part of the program with less than 6 weeks notification prior the start of the program. (2) you voluntarily leave your program for any reason after the trip has begun. (3) You have violated the law or local regulations in China during your stay in China, including your own travel time as long as it’s within 1 month after the end of your program. (4) You have damaged any property that doesn’t belong to you and you didn’t handle it before you leave China. In the occurrence of non-refundable deposit situation, the deposits are not transferable to other persons, other locations or other programs. Deposit paid with a bank or wire transfer will need to have transaction costs covered by you. For any fees paid with a credit card or with PayPal then 50DKK will be added to cover transaction and credit card fees.

Upon receipt of your application form and deposit we will start to organize your program. However if you withdraw your application at any stage, as we will have already incurred costs in processing your application, organizing your program, confirming your accommodation and looking for a placement; we regret that we have to deduct all cost from your deposit. (See Refunds and Cancellations for details)

For unlikely events, we reserve the right to cancel your program due to unexpected situations or changes with the program, our partners or any situations that require us to do so. In this case you will receive a refund. We are however not responsible for any costs you have in cancelling your flights or any other costs. All refunds will be made less the costs incurred in processing the refund such as bank and transaction fees.

We aim to place you in your preferred city (cities) but changes can occur with the school you were placed in so we might have to place you in another city. Should this happen, iGoToChina will refund you 50% of the train ticket cost from your original city to the new city together with your deposit when you finish your program. Please keep well the receipts.

iGoToChina will only support you on relevant issues, any other inquiries (travel plans etc.), please consult other service providers.

Please be aware of your visa duration. If you intend to stay longer than the program period, it’s your own responsibility to extent your visa. If you stay in China illegally after the expiration of your visa, iGoToChina is absolutely NOT liable to this matter. Please consult iGoToChina or other service providers for visa extension service.

Refunds and Cancellations

We will only cancel your placement when we receive instructions from you. Cancellation is effective from the day we receive this notification. In the event of your cancellation iGoToChina retains part of your deposit.

  • 6 weeks or more prior to the start of your program: Refund = Deposit – Actual cost of administration. If the actual cost is more than the deposit, we encourage you to pay the extra to support our activities, but you don’t have obligation to do so.  An invoice will be sent to you in this case. Admin cost is charged by hours. The hourly rate is 180DKK. (Process your application, 2 hour; organization your program: 2 hour; looking for a placement for you: 2 hours; accommodation confirmation: 10 hours [if you receive an email of available accommodations for you from us, the accommodation confirmation process is completed.])
  • 6 weeks or less prior the start of your program: 100% loss of deposit.

Deposit is not transferrable to other persons.

Flights and other Transport

The participants is solely responsible for arranging and paying for their own travel up front, specifically including all airfares or other transport costs to and from the host city (cities) as well as any local transport costs. If the program you are in covers your flight cost, the cost will be reimbursed when you finish your program. Maximum travel cost that can be reimbursed is 600 EURO. We cannot meet, reimburse or otherwise be responsible for any flight, travel or other costs or expenses of any nature (including, for example, any charges made by airlines etc for canceling, changing or transferring flights or other arrangements) which are incurred or arise as a result of your placement not proceeding or being cancelled, curtailed, withdrawn or changed. It is the responsibility of the participants to carry all necessary documents when traveling abroad. While iGoToChina may advise the participants on required travel documentation, iGoToChina are not responsible for any supporting documents necessary for the participantes’ travel needs or other purposes. You are responsible for internal travel costs during your program. In all cases, this includes daily transport to and from your residence.

China is a very safe country, to some extend it’s safer than the most popular tourism cities like London, Paris and New York. But there will always a chance for unlikely events, by becoming a participant in our programs in China or abroad, you acknowledge and accept the risks associated with living and working outside of your country of (origin or/and residence). iGoToChina is not liable for any loss or harm you may suffer, including but not limited to loss caused by delays, bodily injury or death, emotional upset, damage to or loss of property, war or terrorism. iGoToChina is not liable for any errors or mistakes made by partner organizations or projects.


iGoToChina will work together with our relocation partner to provide you a room in a house or a flat. Rent will be paid either by your scholarship or your sponsor company (not applicable to Qin Huang Dao). You will have your own room but you may have to share the house or flat with other participants from either iGoToChina or other international organizations, meaning possibly sharing bathrooms, kitchen and living room. Depending on the locations you are placed, you might have to pay 1- 3 month rent as deposit when you move in. The deposit will be refunded to you when you move out. Please see the terms and conditions of the lease. The location of accommodation will be decided solely by iGoToChina and it cannot be negotiated by participants. In Xiantao, Qianjiang and Tianmen, the accommodation will be located in Xiantao city and will be close to at least one city bus stop. In Beijing, the accommodation will be close to at least one subway station. If you are placed in small towns in Beijing Municipality, we also offer opportunities for you to live in the small towns upon your request. In Tianjin, the accommodation will be close to at least one city bus stop. All houses and apartments are up to the European standards in a safe neighbourhood for all participants. Most of the time iGoToChina will have different options of accommodations for you and it’s allocated by First Come First Get principle, so please apply early. In the event you don’t like any accommodation that iGoToChina provides, you can also find a place yourself or with other relocation agencies and iGoToChina can refund you 1000DKK per month when you finish your program and return to your country of origin or residence. The terms and conditions of different agencies vary significantly, it’s your responsibility to check the lease if you want a service from other agencies other than DanmarkKina Relocation. iGoToChina has no obligation to advice you on the lease that you sign with other parties.


Unusual Circumstances

Your program may be disrupted by an unusual event or circumstances that iGoToChina could not reasonably have foreseen. If the unusual event is serious enough to significantly affect your program, we will try to arrange a suitable alternative if possible. We do not make any refunds in these situations and you will be responsible for any travel costs involved. We cannot accept liability for the effect of any unusual event or for any loss, damage, expense or claim of any description you suffer as a result.

The participant acknowledges and accepts the responsibilities and risks associated with their agreement to travel to and temporarily live in China. Therefore, iGoToChina including any and all of its employees, managers, directors, shareholders, host families and host city partner organizations are not liable, to the maximum extent of the law, for any loss or harm the participants or associates may suffer, including but not limited to loss caused by: personal injury, emotional injury, death, illness or disease, damage to or loss of property.

iGoToChina provides a service connecting participants to partner organizations and local projects. You agree that iGoToChina is not liable for any actions or omissions of any partner organization and local projects. iGoToChina has no liability for any lack of performance, unavailability or failure of the services or its website, or for any failure of iGoToChina to comply with these terms and conditions, where the same arises from any cause reasonably beyond the control of iGoToChina.

Passport & Visas

You must ensure that you have a full passport, valid until at least 6 months after your planned return date. You are responsible for organizing your own visa. Your visa fees will be refunded (travel associated cost to obtain the visa is not included). Keep the receipts.Work permits are often difficult to obtain, especially the ones that don’t have a bachelor degree and have less than 2 years relevant work experience. Therefore iGoToChina advises participants to enter on an internship visa  (category F) or tourism visa (category L) for 3 months program. You are not allowed to carry any paid work when you leave or finish your program subject to the National Immigration Regulations. Any offence of this rule may cause deportation from China for 10 years. If you find another placement with other organizations, you will have to apply for a new visa.

Change of Dates and Duration

Once registered and before they begin their trip with iGoToChina, the participants are entitled to change their start date and duration once with a notification of at least 10 weeks in advance at additional cost of 1000DKK. If participants need to change their start date or duration a second time they will be required to pay an administration fee of 2000DKK for each change they make. The new start date cannot be more than 12 months after the initial start date.

Use of photos and comments

By agreeing to these terms and conditions you agree that we may use any photo(s)/image(s) we or someone on our behalf take of you or any comments (written or verbal) you make during or in connection with your placement for our promotional and marketing purposes (such as including them in our brochure / website) without obtaining your further specific permission or making any payment to you. iGoToChina reserves the right to use feedback and images provided by participants for website materials such as testimonials.


It is highly recommended to have travel insurance during your program. You have to obtain your own travel insurance before you leave for your program. iGoToChina does not provide the participants with insurance of any kind. The participant is solely responsible for evaluating and determining the type, extent and levels of any insurance coverage they need or desire for their planned volunteer travel period.

Complaint Procedure

You should email us detailing the precise nature of your complaint(s) within 30 days of the event that gave rise to your complaint. You can also send complaints regarding our partners or other organization in question, iGoToChina is not liable to their activities, but we can evaluate their behaviour and performance and decide if we want to partner with them again. Code of conduct

All participants on our programs are expected to adhere to proper conduct at their projects, proper conduct with children and listen to the instructions of your coordinator or partner organization. This covers, but is not limited to, respecting others’ cultures and beliefs, working responsibly at your project, respecting the accommodation and avoiding drugs and illegal activities. Also participants will be removed from their program without a refund if they engage in illegal, violent or improper behaviour.

It is understood that any participant in our program will obey the laws of the host country. This forbids alcohol consumption by minors and the use of illegal drugs. Participants are expected to be courteous and respectful at all times, and abusive behaviour will not be tolerated. iGoToChina reserves the right to expel (without refund) any participant with improper behaviour.
